NKU TO MEET 10TH-RANKED LEWIS |

Norse to host Flyers at 5:30 p.m. Friday |

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University mens soccer team will play host to Lewis University at 5:30 p.m. this Friday in Wilder, Ky. Lewis enters that contest ranked No. 10 nationally in the NCAA Division II poll. The Flyers are 7-2 overall, 2-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. NKU will also meet 25th-ranked University of Wisconsin-Parkside (6-3 overall, 1-2 GLVC) at noon Sunday at the Town & Country Sports Complex. NKU - which has lost four straight matches - is 3-5-1 overall, 0-4 in the GLVC, after dropping a 3-1 decision at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville last Sunday. The Norse also lost at Quincy University by a 2-1 score last Friday night. SIUE scored two goals in the final 10 minutes to pull out the victory against NKU. Mike Ngonyani snapped a 1-1 tie at the 80:28 mark with a goal that was assisted by Yuzuru Takami, and Sean Huneke added an insurance score at the 82:05 mark. SIUE scored seven minutes into the match when Josh Hickam found the net off an assist from Takami, and the Cougars took that 1-0 lead into halftime. NKUs Jeff Anderson, however, netted a goal at the 69:34 mark off an assist from Joaquin Palomeque to tie the score at 1-1. Anderson leads NKU in scoring with seven goals, and he is tied for sixth place in the GLVC with 14 points. David Lies has three goals for the Norse and ranks No. 2 on the team in scoring. |
