NKU defeats Kentucky Wesleyan, 2-0 |

OWENSBORO, Ky. - David Lies and Randy Walters each scored second-half goals Sunday as the Northern Kentucky Universitys mens soccer team posted a 2-0 win over Kentucky Wesleyan College. NKU goalie Nate Madden recorded his 10th shutout of the season and had three saves. The Norse, who limited Kentucky Wesleyan to just four shots, improved to 10-2-2 overall, 5-2-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Lies gave NKU a 1-0 lead at the 71:29 mark with a goal that was assisted by Kyle Roberts. It was the first goal of the season for Lies, a defensive standout for the Norse. NKU sealed the win in the 84th minute when Walters beat Kentucky Wesleyan goalie Andrew Minton with a score that was also assisted by Roberts. Walters now has four goals this fall for NKU, which owns a four-game win streak. Roberts upped his assist total to three this season. NKU has beaten Kentucky Wesleyan (3-9-1 overall, 0-7 GLVC) 12 consecutive times. The Panthers have not defeated NKU since the 1992 season. NKU will play at the University of Indianapolis at noon Friday. The Norse will also travel to Kirksville, Mo., next Sunday to meet Truman State University. |
