HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University mens soccer team will travel to Rolla, Mo., this weekend to play a pair of matches, beginning with a 4 p.m. Saturday contest against Missouri Southern State College (0-1). NKU will also face the University of Missouri-Rolla (1-0) at 4 p.m. Sunday on the second day of the round-robin UM-Rolla Tournament. NKU is 0-1-1 after dropping a 2-1 decision to Saginaw Valley State University last Sunday. Claudio Cicchettis goal at the 62:48 mark Sunday snapped a 1-1 tie and gave Saginaw Valley State the victory. NKUs Jeff Anderson had tied the contest at 1-1 with a penalty kick goal at the 60:11 mark, but Cicchettis breakaway score two minutes later gave Saginaw Valley State the lead. The Norse nearly tied the match in the final minutes, but a goal by Nate McCall was disallowed due to an offside call. In its opener last Saturday, NKU played the University of Findlay to a 1-1 tie. Nick Brayton scored NKUs goal in the second half off an assist from Mike Poole. |
