WILDER, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University mens soccer team played Bellarmine University to a 1-1 tie in two overtimes Sunday afternoon at the Town & Country Sports Complex. Nadeem Al-Alami scored a goal for NKU, which is 3-4-2 overall, 1-0-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. His goal, which was assisted by Tony Cullum in the first half, gave the Norse a 1-0 lead at halftime. Bellarmines Nick Staggs tied the match at the 58:26 mark with a 20-yard blast that eluded NKU goalie Nate Madden. The Knights had several opportunities late in regulation, but Madden made a pair of outstanding stops to send the contest into overtime. Bellarmine (5-2-3 overall, 0-0-3 GLVC) held a 21-11 advantage in shots. The Knights also earned nine corner kicks, compared to one by NKU. NKU will hit the road next weekend and play at the University of Missouri-St. Louis at 8 p.m. Friday. |
