NKU, INDY PLAY TO 0-0 TIE |

Norse tie in GLVC opener |

WILDER, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University mens soccer team played the University of Indianapolis to a 0-0 tie in two overtimes Sunday at the Town & Country Sports Complex. NKU had several opportunities in the second overtime when Indianapolis goalie Matt Williams was ejected after tackling the Norses Randy Walters on a breakaway. Williams was given a red card for the foul, which occurred just outside the penalty box. NKUs Chris Barwell had a shot from 10 yards out that Indianapolis backup goalie Denys Pervov blocked with 2:21 remaining. With 1:34 left, Nick Rascona had a shot from 15 yards out, but the attempt was wide right against the shorthanded Indianapolis defense. Indianapolis owned a 22-11 advantage in shots, and goalie Nate Madden had eight saves for NKU. The Norse are 2-4-1 overall, 0-0-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Indianapolis is now 1-2-4 overall, 0-0-2 in the GLVC. NKU will play host to Kentucky Wesleyan College at 8 p.m. this Friday at the Town & Country Sports Complex. The Norse will also play host to Bellarmine University at 2:30 p.m. next Sunday. |
