Cicchetti’s goal at 62:48 gives SVSU the victory |

WILDER, Ky. - Claudio Cicchetti’s goal at the 62:48 mark Sunday snapped a 1-1 tie and gave the Saginaw Valley State University men’s soccer team a 2-1 victory over Northern Kentucky University at the Town & Country Sports Complex. NKU’s Jeff Anderson had tied the contest at 1-1 with a penalty kick goal at the 60:11 mark, but Cicchetti’s breakaway score two minutes later gave Saginaw Valley State (2-0) the lead. The Norse nearly tied the match in the final minutes, but a goal by Nate McCall was disallowed due to an offside call. NKU (0-1-1) will hit the road next week and play Missouri Southern State College at 4 p.m. on Saturday. The Norse will also meet the University of Missouri-Rolla at 4 p.m. on Sunday. |
