JOHN TOEBBEN CLASSIC SET SEPT. 3-5

NKU soccer event presented by Provident Bank

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University men’s soccer team will play host to the John Toebben Classic Sept. 3-5 at the Town & Country Sports Complex in Wilder, Ky.

The 2004 John Toebben Classic is presented by Provident Bank, and the event is in memory of the late NKU soccer head coach who passed away on April 26, 2003, after a seven-month battle with cancer. Toebben had been the NKU head coach since 1990 and owned a career record of 137-105-15 with the Norse.

He led NKU to back-to-back Great Lakes Valley Conference championships in 1992 and ‘93, and he also guided the Norse to the 1995 GLVC title.

NKU will meet Ashland University (12-4-2 in 2003) at 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 3 to open the John Toebben Classic. Ashland will play Christian Brothers (Tenn.) University (8-9-0 in 2003) at 4 p.m. on Sept. 4. The event will conclude Sept. 5 when NKU takes on Christian Brothers at 3:30 p.m.

NKU finished with a 4-9-3 overall record in 2003. The Norse also posted a 2-5-3 mark in the GLVC.
