NKU PLAYS FINDLAY TO 1-1 TIE |

Norse begin season by tying 15th-ranked Oilers |

WILDER, Ky. - Nick Brayton scored a goal off an assist from Mike Poole in the second half Saturday afternoon as the Northern Kentucky University men’s soccer team tied the University of Findlay, 1-1, at the Town & Country Sports Complex. Findlay, ranked No. 15 nationally in the preseason NCAA Division II poll, took a 1-0 lead at the 48:07 mark when Jon Deighton found the net on a rebound shot. NKU, however, responded just 42 seconds later when Brayton - in his first game for the Norse - scored off the assist from Poole. NKU attempted 14 shots and limited Findlay to just nine shots. The Norse (0-0-1) will meet Saginaw Valley State University - a 2-1 winner over Bellarmine on Saturday - at 2 p.m. Sunday. |
