NKU PICKED SEVENTH IN GLVC POLL

Lewis favored to win GLVC title

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University men’s soccer team has been picked seventh in the Great Lakes Valley Conference preseason poll, which was released Monday.

NKU posted a 6-10-2 overall record a year ago, and the Norse finished in eighth place in the GLVC with a 3-6-1 slate. NKU is beginning its first season under head coach John Basalyga, who accepted the position in June.

Lewis University received seven first-place votes and a total of 95 points to earn the favorite’s role in the ballot. Defending GLVC Tournament champion Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville received 93 total points and is picked No. 2 in the poll.

Quincy University is third in the poll, followed by the University of Southern Indiana to round out the top four teams.

NKU will begin the season at 1 p.m. Aug. 30 against the University of Findlay in a match that will be played at the Town & Country Sports Complex in Wilder, Ky.
