UNION, Ky. - Matt Gade shot a 5-under-par 66 Tuesday afternoon as Bellarmine University grabbed a seven-stroke lead in the NCAA II Great Lakes Regional at Lassing Pointe Golf Club. Bellarmine finished with a score of 280, seven strokes ahead of second-place Ferris State University (287). Grand Valley State University is third with 289 after one round, while Northern Kentucky University is tied with Northwood (Mich.) University for fourth place at 291. NKUs Steve Landrum shot a 2-under-par 69 on Tuesday and is tied for second in the individual competition. The Norses Brandon Brown is 14th after one round with a 1-over-par 72. In the Central Region competition, Central Missouri State University shot 288 and holds a nine-stroke lead going into the final round. The NCAA II Super Regional combines the Great Lakes and Central Regions, and the team champions in both tournaments will qualify for the national finals. The final 18 holes will be played Wednesday at Lassing Pointe. The tournament had to be shortened from 54 holes to 36 after Mondays round was canceled due to rain.
