NKU 2ND AFTER 1ST DAY OF NCAA II REGIONAL

Norse seven strokes off lead with first-day score of 307

BELLINGHAM, Mass. - Josh Jarvi shot a 4-over-par 75 Monday as the Northern Kentucky University men’s golf team finished the first round of the NCAA Division II North Regional Tournament in second place with a score of 307.

Jarvi shot 37-38 for a total of 75 at the par-71 New England Country Club. Bryant (R.I.) College is in first place after the first round with a score of 300, seven strokes ahead of NKU.

Brandon Brown finished with a 76 on Monday for NKU, and Scott Stark totaled a 77. Steve Landrum, the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Year, finished with a first-day total of 79, and Brandon Parsons also shot a 79 for the Norse.

The second round will be played Tuesday, and the final round is scheduled for Wednesday.

The top six teams will qualify for the NCAA Division II national finals, which will be held May 22-25 at Allendale, Mich.
