SHEARER CAPTURES MEDAL AT GLVC CHAMPIONSHIPS |

Norse sophomore leads team to second-place finish |
|
COLUMBUS, Ind. - Northern Kentucky Universitys David Shearer won a playoff against Wisconsin-Parksides Ryan Wnuk to take the medal at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships on Tuesday. Shearer, a sophomore from Charlevoix, Mich., shot rounds of 74-65-77 to finish at 216 at the par-72 Otter Creek Golf Course. Wnuk also shot 216 to tie Shearer for first-place in the individual competition, but Shearer prevailed in a playoff to earn medalist honors at the two-day, 54-hole tournament. As a team, NKU tied for second place with Lewis at 901, 11 strokes behind first-place finisher Wisconsin-Parkside (890). Curtis Phelps and Andrew Jewell of NKU each finished at 228 (14th place), while Mark Krahe tied for 19th place with a total of 231. |
