HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Junior guard Craig Sanders scored 23 points and made all six of his three-point attempts Friday night as the Northern Kentucky University mens basketball team defeated Indiana University-Southeast, 108-60, in the first round of the John L. Griffin/Lions Club Classic in Regents Hall. Sanders made all eight of his field goal attempts as NKU improved to 4-0 and advanced to Saturday nights 7:45 p.m. tournament championship game against California (Pa.) University. The Vulcans defeated Ohio Dominican College, 74-65, in the other first-round game Friday. NKU - which scored the games first 22 points on Friday - made 17 of 30 three-point attempts and shot 65.1 percent from the field. The Norse shot 72.4 percent from the field in the second half. Four other NKU players - Craig Conley (12 points), Adam Norwell (12 points), Todd Clark (11 points) and Jeff McKinley (10 points) - also scored in double figures. Indiana-Southeast dropped to 1-2 and will play Ohio Dominican in the consolation game at 5:30 p.m. Saturday. |
