Former Norse standout hired as assistant coach

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University men’s basketball head coach Dave Bezold announced Tuesday that Kevin Listerman has joined the Norse coaching staff as a full-time assistant.

Listerman, a four-year starter at point guard for NKU from 1995-2000, was the head coach at Boone County High School last season and led the Rebels to a 26-4 record. He also guided Boone County to the championship game of the Ninth Region Tournament, where the Rebels lost to Covington Catholic High School.

As a player at NKU, Listerman helped the Norse finish as NCAA Division II national runner-up in both 1996 and ’97. He scored 772 career points and ranks No. 1 in NKU history with 304 steals. Listerman also is No. 3 all-time in Norse history with 501 career assists.

Listerman led NKU to a 104-26 four-year record and four NCAA Division II Tournament appearances while earning various Great Lakes Valley Conference honors. A second team All-GLVC performer in 1997-98, Listerman also was a four-time member of the GLVC’s All-Academic Team.

In addition, he earned the GLVC’s Richard F. Scharf Paragon Award after his senior season and later was named a winner of the NCAA Top VIII Award. He later served as a graduate assistant at NKU before taking the head coaching position at Bellevue High School in 2002.
