NKU senior named GLVC Player of the Week

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University’s Craig Sanders has been named Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week.

Sanders, a senior guard and a graduate of McNicholas High School in Cincinnati, averaged 24.0 points and made 57.1 percent of his shots from three-point range to lead the Norse to a pair of GLVC road wins last week. Sanders scored 18 points and made a pair of key three-pointers midway through the second half to rally NKU past Quincy, 76-74, on Thursday.

He scored 30 points Saturday as NKU defeated SIUE, 90-62, at the Vadalabene Center. Sanders also connected on eight three-point shots in that game and became NKU’s all-time career leader with 304 three-point field goals.

Sanders has now scored in double figures in 33 consecutive games.

For the week, he scored 48 points (24.0 ppg), made 12 of 21 three-point shots (57.1 percent) and was 17 of 29 from the field (58.6 percent).
