Norse (13-1) lose for first time this season |

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Marlowe Currie scored 27 points and grabbed eight rebounds Saturday night as the University of Southern Indiana defeated Northern Kentucky University, 90-75, at the Physical Activities Center in a battle of unbeaten mens basketball teams. NKU (13-1, 4-1 Great Lakes Valley Conference) entered the game ranked No. 4 nationally in the Division II poll, while Southern Indiana (11-0, 5-0 GLVC) entered the showdown ranked No. 3 in the nation. The Norse, however, made just two of 22 three-point shots and were held to 39.2 percent shooting from the field. Southern Indiana built a 40-29 halftime lead as Currie scored 16 points and Derrick Lyons added 10. NKU made just 28.6 percent of its shots from the field in the first half and converted only nine of 17 free throws. In the second half, Southern Indiana used a 22-5 run to build a 75-51 lead and coasted to the victory. Carl Mitchell led NKU with 19 points, and Craig Conley added 15 points and six assists. Adam Norwell added 11 points and 11 rebounds for NKU, and Brenden Stowers scored 12 points.
