LISTERMAN RECEIVES PARAGON AWARD

NKU senior receives GLVC’s most prestigious honor

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University senior men’s basketball player Kevin Listerman has earned the 2000 Richard F. Scharf Paragon Award, which is given annually to the top male and female student-athletes in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

The Paragon Award is based upon academic excellence, athletic ability and achievement, character and leadership. The Paragon Award is the most prestigious honor given to a student-athlete in the GLVC.

Listerman, a graduate of Covington Catholic High School, was a four-year starter for the NKU men's basketball team and helped the Norse advance to four NCAA Division II Tournaments. NKU advanced to the NCAA Division II national championship game twice (1996, 1997) during his career.

One of the top point guards in NKU history, Listerman finished his career as the school’s all-time leader in steals with 304, and he ranks No. 2 in Norse history with 501 assists. Earlier this spring, Listerman was named the Vincent Schulte Athlete of Distinction Award winner, which is given annually to the top male student-athlete at NKU.

Listerman’s older brother, Andy, also won the Paragon Award in 1998. Todd Svoboda, who played men's basketball and tennis at NKU, also earned the award in 1992.
