NKU sophomore pitcher enters NCAA II national finals with 31-3 record |

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky Universitys Krystal Lewallen has been named NCAA Division II first team All-America, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced Wednesday night. Lewallen, a sophomore pitcher from Crestwood, Ky., is 31-3 on the mound this season for NKU. Lewallen enters the NCAA Division II national finals this week having set school records for strikeouts (293), innings pitched (242.2), earned run average (0.26 ERA), shutouts (18), complete games (30) and wins (31). She was also named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Year this spring and earned NFCA Division II National Player of the Week honors in March. A graduate of South Oldham High School, Lewallen is the only NKU softball player in history to earn first team All-America honors. She owns a 47-12 career record at NKU and ranks No. 3 in Norse history with the 47 victories. NKU (54-5) will meet St. Cloud (Minn.) State University (40-13) at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Altamonte, Springs, Fla., in the eight-team NCAA Division II national finals. |
