CARSKADON WINS WILMINGTON INVITATIONAL |

NKU sophomore runner posts first-place finish Saturday |

WILMINGTON, Ohio. - Northern Kentucky University sophomore cross country runner Ryan Carskadon captured first-place honors at the Wilmington Invitational on Saturday by completing the eight-kilometer course in 26:11. Carskadon became the first NKU mens cross county runner to capture first-place honors in a meet since 1995, when Brian Flaherty won the Bellarmine Invitational. Carskadons performance helped the NKU mens team finish second with a score of 45, three points behind first-place Wilmington College. Kevin Alessandro (eighth place, 26:52), Pat Sullivan (ninth place, 26:52.8), Chris Lenhof (10th place, 26:53) and Brian Alessandro (22nd place, 27:53) all finished in the top 25 to lead NKU. In the womens race, NKU posted a second-place finish in the five-kilometer race with a score of 87. Freshman Lissa Faulkner continued her impressive first year with the Norse and finished fourth in the race with a time of 19:42. Anna Moore (11th place, 20:07) and Elaine Koenig (15th place, 20:17) also finished in the top 15 for the NKU women. Heidelberg College finished first in the womens race with a team score of 45. |
