NKU SOFTBALL DUO HONORED BY GLVC

Breitholle, Lindeman earn GLVC weekly awards

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University’s Emily Breitholle has been named Great Lakes Valley Conference Pitcher of Week in softball, while teammate Angie Lindeman has been selected GLVC Player of the Week.

Breitholle, a freshman and a graduate of Fairfield (Ohio) High School, went 4-0 and recorded three shutouts last week to lead the Norse to an 8-0 record. Breitholle allowed just one run in 28 innings pitched and also had 20 strikeouts.

She posted shutouts against previously unbeaten Kentucky State (4-0), Campbellsville (2-0) and Kentucky Wesleyan (3-0). She also came back on Sunday and led NKU to a 2-1 win at Bellarmine. Breitholle is now 13-2 this season, and she needs just two wins to tie the NKU single-season record for victories.

Lindeman, a freshman first baseman from North Canton, Ohio, batted .684 and had a home run and seven runs batted in. Lindeman also had four doubles last week as NKU swept four doubleheaders.

Lindeman leads the GLVC in hitting with a .463 batting average. She also has 29 RBI this season.

NKU owns a 24-6 record, the best start for a Norse softball team since 1989.
