BINA NEARS NKU SINGLE-SEASON WIN RECORD

Norse senior pitcher needs three victories to set NKU single-season mark

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University senior pitcher Kim Bina, a graduate of Ryle High School, is nearing yet another Norse softball record.

Bina, who already is NKU’s all-time career leader in strikeouts (292) and games pitched (93), needs just three victories to set the Norse single-season record for victories. Bina is currently 13-5 after posting a 5-4 win over Saint Joseph’s College on Saturday.

The NKU single-season record for wins is 15, held by both Lisa Cornett (1996) and Amy Serraino (1989). Bina could break the record this weekend at the Great Lakes Valley Conference/Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Challenge at Battle Creek, Mich., or next week when the Norse play GLVC road doubleheaders at Lewis University and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.

Bina is also on pace to break the NKU single-season mark for lowest earned run average, which is 1.40 by Lisa Barnett in 1989. Bina enters this week with a 1.23 ERA and four shutouts.
