Norse improve to 7-7 with doubleheader sweep |

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Shaun Erie hit a pair of doubles and scored three runs Thursday as the Northern Kentucky University baseball team defeated Kentucky State University, 9-0, in the first game of a doubleheader at the Bill Aker Baseball Complex at Friendship Field. NKU completed the sweep with an 11-1 victory in the nightcap as Jim Deller collected three hits and three runs batted in. Joe Kendall and Ben Gulleman each drove in two runs for NKU, which scored seven times in the first inning. In the opener, Josh Perkins scored twice and added three hits for the Norse. Sean Ryan collected a two-run double for NKU, which is now 7-7 this season. The NKU pitching staff held Kentucky State to a total of four hits in completing the sweep. The Norse will play host to Great Lakes Valley Conference rival Lewis University in a doubleheader this Saturday, with the first game scheduled to begin at noon. |
