BAYS EARNS REGIONAL HONOR

NKU senior named North Central Region’s Pitcher of the Year

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University’s Lenny Bays has been named the North Central Region’s Pitcher of the Year by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers’ Association. Bays, a senior right-hander and a graduate of Bellevue High School, posted a 9-4 record this past season for NKU. Bays finished with a 2.97 earned run average and led NKU with 81 strikeouts in 103 innings pitched. He was unbeaten (9-0) against Great Lakes Valley Conference opponents this season and had six complete games. NKU posted a 37-24 record and won the GLVC Tournament championship for the first time in history. The Norse also finished with a No. 21 national ranking in the NCAA Division II poll.
