NKU ADVANCES TO GLVC TITLE ROUND

Norse defeat Saint Joseph’s, 5-2, on Saturday

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Shaun Erie collected three hits and three runs batted in Saturday as Northern Kentucky University defeated Saint Joseph’s College, 5-2, in the third round of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament at the Bill Aker Baseball Complex at Friendship Field.

Keith Jackson added three hits and scored twice for NKU, which improved to 34-22 and advanced to Sunday’s championship round of the GLVC Tournament. The Norse will play at 11 a.m. Sunday against Saint Joseph’s for the GLVC championship.

If NKU would lose the 11 a.m. game on Sunday, there will be a second game at 2 p.m. in the double-elimination tournament. The Norse are seeking their first-ever GLVC Tournament championship.

Chris Unkraut picked up the win Saturday for NKU by allowing just four hits and two unearned runs. Brandon Evans pitched the final two innings and recorded his third save of the season.

NKU is ranked No. 25 nationally in the NCAA Division II poll.
