MOEVES, SEITER AMONG NATION’S BEST

Norse pitchers finish in top 10 in earned run average, saves

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University pitchers Derrik Moeves and Justin Seiter rank among the nation’s leaders in the final NCAA Division II baseball statistics.

Moeves, a sophomore right-hander and a graduate of Highlands High School, finished No. 7 nationally in earned run average with an ERA of 1.74. He also finished 12th nationally in strikeouts with 11.1 per nine innings pitched.

Moeves set an NKU single-season record with 102 strikeouts this spring, and he was named the Great Lakes Valley Conference Pitcher of the Year. In addition, Moeves earned third team All-America honors, and he was tabbed the NCAA Division II North Central Region’s Pitcher of the Year.

Seiter, a junior closer and a graduate of Bishop Brossart High School, finished No. 8 nationally in saves with nine. Seiter also had a 5-2 record with a 0.75 ERA in 26 appearances for the Norse.

Seiter earned first team All-GLVC honors and first team All-North Central Region accolades this season.

NKU captured the GLVC Tournament championship this spring and finished the season with a 37-25 record.
