DAYTON DEFEATS NKU, 22-9 |

Flyers use 23-hit attack to post victory |

DAYTON, Ohio - Joe McSoley went 5-for-5 with five runs batted in Thursday as the University of Dayton baseball team defeated Northern Kentucky University, 22-9, at Stuart Field. Dayton scored eight times in the first inning as McSoley and Tom Beechem each collected two-run triples off NKU starter Jeff Schachleiter. The Flyers eventually built a 13-0 lead after three innings and coasted past NKU to improve to 8-17. Jerrod Fraley led NKU with three hits - including a home run - and three RBI. Sean Ryan added two hits and a pair of RBI for NKU, which dropped to 14-11. Lewis Jones collected two RBI for NKU, which had posted a 16-13 win over Dayton on Wednesday. The Flyers, however, used a 23-hit attack on Thursday to earn a split in the two-game series with the Norse. NKU will play host to the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in a Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader at noon this Saturday. The Norse are 7-4 in the GLVC. |
