HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Jerrod Fraleys run-scoring double with two out in the bottom of the 10th inning Tuesday gave Northern Kentucky University a 4-3 victory over the University of Indianapolis at the Bill Aker Baseball Complex at Friendship Field. Keith Jackson started the winning rally in the 10th inning with a one-out single to center field. With two out and Jackson still at first base, Fraley lined a shot into the left-center field gap that allowed Jackson to score the winning run. Justin Seiter pitched two scoreless innings to pick up the victory for NKU, which snapped an eight-game losing streak. The Norse rallied from a 2-0 deficit against Indianapolis starter Blake Wyatt (8-4) with two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. In the nightcap, NKU right-hander Dizzy Peyton allowed just five hits and two runs en route to a 5-2 victory over Indianapolis. Peyton also recorded five strikeouts as NKU completed the doubleheader sweep. Josh Perkins went 3-for-3 and drove in a run, while Jackson was 2-for-3 with an RBI. The Norse built a 5-0 lead after four innings and coasted to the win behind the pitching of Peyton, who improved to 3-2 with the complete-game victory. NKU is now 21-20 overall, 12-11 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Indianapolis dropped to 31-15 overall, 15-10 in the GLVC. The opener Tuesday counted in the GLVC standings, and the second contest was a non-conference game. NKU will hit the road for Louisville, Ky., Wednesday to meet Bellarmine University at 3 p.m. |
