Rivermen complete three-game sweep of Norse |

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Jason Barron scored four times and drove in three runs Sunday afternoon as the University of Missouri-St. Louis posted a 15-2 win over Northern Kentucky University. Scott Sanders added three hits and four RBI as Missouri-St. Louis improved to 26-6 overall. The Rivermen lead the Great Lakes Valley Conference with a 14-3 record and are ranked No. 11 nationally in the NCAA Division II poll. Missouri-St. Louis scored four times in the first inning off NKU starter Chris Unkraut as Barron and Sanders each collected two-run singles. The Rivermen added four more runs in the third inning to take an 8-0 lead and were never threatened as they completed a three-game series sweep of the Norse. Shaun Erie had two hits and an RBI for NKU, which dropped to 19-16 overall, 11-8 in the GLVC. Keith Jackson and Lewis Jones also added two hits apiece for the Norse, who have lost four consecutive games. NKU will travel to Oxford, Ohio, on Wednesday to meet Miami (Ohio) University at 3 p.m. The Norse will return to GLVC play next Friday with a noon doubleheader against Kentucky Wesleyan College at the Bill Aker Baseball Complex at Friendship Field. |
