INDIANAPOLIS - Northern Kentucky University’s Liz Holmes has been selected as the Baden/Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

Holmes, a graduate of Mercy High School in Cincinnati, hit .544 and averaged 4.4 kills per game last week as NKU won four of five matches, including a four-game victory over No. 7 Hillsdale during the Ashland Invitational.

Holmes began the week by hitting .579 with 13 kills during a sweep against Lincoln Memorial. She followed that performance by hammering down 19 kills and attacking at a .667 clip as NKU knocked off GLIAC power and No. 7 Hillsdale in four games.

The 5-foot-10 senior middle hitter also added eight digs and three blocks in that victory, and she converted a huge attack in the fourth set with Hillsdale holding game point at 32-31. NKU eventually won that game by a 37-35 score and took the match in four games.

Holmes concluded the weekend by collecting 11 kills, five service aces and a .769 hitting percentage during a win over Kentucky Wesleyan, and she added 15 kills and a .500 hitting percentage in the finale, a 3-0 win over Wheeling Jesuit. Holmes was also named to the all-tournament team.
