RENSSELAER,
Ind. - Tristen Dye recorded 20 kills and finished with nine digs
Friday night as Northern Kentucky University coasted to a 30-27,
30-28, 28-30, 30-22 win over Saint Joseph's at the Scharf Alumni
Fieldhouse.
Jennifer Wirtz
added 16 kills and a .500 hitting percentage as NKU improved to
5-6 overall, 2-0 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. The Norse
hit .347 in the fourth game and cruised past Saint Joseph's (1-8
overall, 0-1 GLVC).
Liz Holmes hammered
down 13 kills and collected 13 digs as NKU increased its lead in
the all-time series with Saint Joseph's to 30-5. Holmes, a junior
middle hitter from Mercy High School in Cincinnati, now has 977
career kills at NKU.
Senior setter
Andrea Lanham finished with 55 assists, 14 digs and six kills. Kristina
Eisenmenger added 11 kills and two blocks, while teammate Andrea
Price recorded six kills, 10 digs and a .417 hitting percentage.
Lindsay Zumdick tallied 15 digs for NKU, and Megan Dooley served
up four aces.
NKU, the GLVC
preseason favorite, will visit Indianapolis on Saturday. The Norse
play their home opener next Thursday night when NAIA power Georgetown
(Ky.) visits Regents Hall for a 7 p.m. non-conference match.
