OWENSBORO, Ky.
- Liz Holmes and Tristen Dye combined for 13 service aces Tuesday
night as Northern Kentucky University began Great Lakes Valley Conference
play with a 30-17, 30-17, 30-19 win at Kentucky Wesleyan.
Holmes served
up seven aces and added 10 digs for NKU, which improved to 4-6 overall,
1-0 in the GLVC. Dye finished with six aces, 11 kills, eight digs
and a .476 hitting percentage for the Norse, who served 19 aces
as a team.
Holmes, a junior
middle hitter from Mercy High School in Cincinnati, also converted
seven attacks and now has 964 career kills at NKU.
Jennifer Wirtz
hammered down nine kills and attacked at a .692 clip for NKU, which
finished with a 45-17 advantage in digs. Andrea Lanham collected
23 assists, and Kristina Eisenmenger added five kills and three
blocks.
Andrea Price
had four kills for NKU, which improved to 33-0 all-time against
Kentucky Wesleyan. The Panthers dropped to 0-6 this season.
NKU, the GLVC
preseason favorite, will play a road match at Saint Joseph’s
at 8 p.m. Friday. The Norse also visit Indianapolis on Saturday.
