Dye led NKU with 15 kills |
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS,
Ky. - Northern Kentucky University attacked at a .484 clip Saturday
afternoon and rolled past Wheeling Jesuit, 30-15, 30-16, 30-15,
in Regents Hall.
Tristen Dye
and Kristina Eisenmenger combined for 29 kills in 50 attempts as
the Norse evened their record at 7-7. Dye finished with 15 kills
and hit .483 for the match, while Eisenmenger slammed down 14 kills
and attacked at a .619 clip.
Dye, a junior
outside hitter from Millersburg, Ohio, also added nine digs and
two blocks as NKU coasted to the easy non-conference victory.
NKU used an
8-0 run early in the first game and coasted to a 15-point victory.
The Norse hit .545 in the opening stanza as setter Andrea Lanham
ran the offense to perfection.
Lanham, a graduate
of Notre Dame Academy, finished with 42 assists, four service aces
and three kills. NKU collected 52 kills in 91 attempts with just
eight errors.
The Norse limited
Wheeling Jesuit to a .029 hitting percentage in the second game,
and NKU capped the win by attacking .433 in the third game.
Liz Holmes notched
nine kills and hit .538 against Wheeling Jesuit. The junior middle
hitter, who now has 1,009 career kills, also added two blocks and
seven digs.
Freshman outside
hitter Andrea Price had five kills and hit .571 for the Norse, who
completed the season sweep over Wheeling Jesuit (5-9). Jennifer
Wirtz added five kills as NKU upped its lead to 8-0 in the all-time
series against the Cardinals.
NKU will resume
Great Lakes Valley Conference action Tuesday night at 7 p.m. with
a road match at Bellarmine. NKU is 2-1 in the GLVC, and league coaches
chose the Norse as the preseason favorite.
