----Liz Holmes records her 1,000th kill on this attack

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Liz Holmes reached an individual milestone Thursday night, and the junior middle hitter also led Northern Kentucky University to an impressive win over NAIA powerhouse Georgetown (Ky.).

Holmes recorded her 1,000th career kill during NKU's 30-24, 30-26, 30-21 victory over Georgetown (Ky.) in Regents Hall. Holmes, a graduate of Mercy High School in Cincinnati, finished with 15 kills and a .500 hitting percentage as the Norse rolled past Georgetown.

Holmes slammed down eight kills in the opening game and hit .727 to set the tone for the Norse's victory over the Tigers, who entered the match ranked No. 16 in the NAIA national poll.

Junior outside hitter Tristen Dye added 13 kills, six digs and hit .393 for NKU, which improved to 6-7. Georgetown, which posted a 40-10 record last year, dropped to 8-4.

With NKU holding a 26-19 lead in the third game, Holmes hammered an attack into the Georgetown side of the court to pick up her 1,000th career kill. She became just the 11th player in Norse history to reach 1,000 kills.

Holmes also added eight digs and two service aces. She converted the 15 kills in 26 attempts and finished with just two attacking errors.

Senior setter Andrea Lanham finished with 36 assists and eight digs. Sophomore right-side hitter Kristina Eisenmenger had six kills and two solo blocks, while teammate Jennifer Wirtz added seven kills. Andrea Price and Megan Dooley each had nine digs to lead the Norse defense.

NKU attacked at a .258 clip for the match, while Georgetown managed to hit just .083. The Norse own a 22-5 lead in the all-time series with the Tigers.

NKU will play host to Wheeling Jesuit at 3 p.m. Saturday in Regents Hall in another non-conference match.
