ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Theresa Nugent and Stephanie Sagat combined for 26 kills as Lewis knocked off Northern Kentucky University, 30-23, 30-26, 21-30, 32-30, Friday night in the Neil Carey Arena.

Kristina Eisenmenger led NKU with 18 kills, while teammate Tristen Dye added a double-double with 17 kills and 15 digs. Liz Holmes finished with 16 kills and attacked at a .414 clip for the Norse, who dropped to 16-11 overall, 8-5 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

Holmes, a graduate of Mercy High School in Cincinnati, moved into eighth place in NKU history with 1,194 career kills. The 5-foot-10 junior middle hitter was named GLVC Player of the Week on Monday.

NKU held a six-point lead (14-8) in the second game before watching Lewis rally for a 30-26 win. The Norse appeared on the verge of sending the match to a fifth game by building a 27-23 advantage in the fourth set, but Lewis used a 4-0 run to tie the score at 27-all.

The Flyers scored five of the next eight points to take the match. Lewis, which attacked at a .321 clip for the match, is 19-5 overall, 13-2 in the GLVC.

Sagat finished with 12 kills and hit .429 for Lewis, while Nugent had 14 kills and attacked at a .355 clip. Charisse Steckling added 11 kills and hit .321 for the Flyers.

Andrea Lanham dished out 58 assists for NKU, which hit .295 for the match. Lanham, a senior setter and a graduate of Notre Dame Academy, now has 4,452 career assists.

Andrea Price added 13 kills and 12 digs, while Megan Dooley served up three aces. Lindsay Zumdick collected nine digs for NKU, which had won 12 of its last 13 matches against Lewis on the Flyers' home floor.

The loss also snapped the Norse's current winning streak at four. As a result of the defeat, NKU is in fifth place in the GLVC standings. Indianapolis is in fourth place with a 9-5 record, and it is likely the Greyhounds will meet NKU in the first round of the GLVC Tournament.

Southern Illinois at Edwardsville defeated Rockhurst on Friday night to clinch the No. 1 seed in the GLVC Tournament. The Cougars will play host to that event Nov. 2-4 at Edwardsville, Ill., and the winner will receive an automatic berth in the NCAA Division II Tournament.

NKU finishes its road trip Saturday with a GLVC match against Wisconsin-Parkside. The Norse will play host to non-conference opponent Findlay Oct. 24 in Regents Hall. Findlay is currently ranked 25th nationally in the Division II poll.

NKU closes out its GLVC regular-season schedule at home next weekend with matches against Drury (Friday at 7 p.m.) and Rockhurst (Saturday at 3 p.m.). The Norse will also play host to Charleston (W. Va.) on Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. before leaving for the GLVC Tournament.
