HIGHLAND HEIGHTS,
Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University volleyball team will travel
to Tennessee this weekend to play five matches, beginning with a
6 p.m. Thursday contest at Lincoln Memorial.
NKU will then
travel to Jefferson City, Tenn., to play in the Carson-Newman Tournament
Friday and Saturday. The Norse will begin the event against Palm
Beach Atlantic at noon Friday, and later play Newberry at 4:30 p.m.
NKU will conclude
its trip Saturday with matches against Christian Brothers (9 a.m.)
and host Carson-Newman (11:15 a.m.).
NKU opened
the season last week by winning three of four matches in Puerto
Rico. The Norse also presented head coach Carlos Chia his 100th
career victory Saturday with a 30-25, 21-30, 30-27, 30-27 win over
Puerto Rico-Bayamon.
Liz Holmes
finished with 17 kills and 20 digs to lead NKU against Puerto Rico-Bayamon.
Holmes also added three blocks for the Norse.
Holmes leads
NKU with 63 kills, 13 service aces, 43 digs and 23 blocks. She also
owns a .336 hitting percentage.
Tristen Dye
collected 11 kills and 12 digs against Puerto Rico-Bayamon, while
teammate Kristina Eisenmenger had 10 kills, five blocks and a .412
hitting percentage. Dye is second on the team with 60 kills, and
Eisenmenger has 22 kills and 10 blocks.
