HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern
Kentucky University softball head coach Kathy Stewart has added
University of Kentucky transfer Amber Janneck to the roster for
the 2006 season.
Janneck played two seasons
at Kentucky and was named to the All-Southeastern Conference Freshman
team in 2004 after hitting a school-record 12 home runs. She also
batted. .279 and drove in 34 runs as a freshman.
Last season, Janneck
belted a team-leading seven home runs for Kentucky. She also collected
seven doubles and started all 61 games for the Wildcats. Janneck,
who can play shortstop, third base or second base, hit 19 home runs
in two years at Kentucky.
A 2003 graduate of Boone
County High School, Janneck was named the 9th Region’s most
valuable player three times. She hit .489 with 15 doubles, two home
runs and scored 59 runs as a senior at Boone County.
Janneck will join an
NKU team that posted a 55-2 record last season. The Norse set a
collegiate softball record by winning their first 55 games en route
to the NCAA Division II World Series.
NKU has won two straight
NCAA Division II Great Lakes Region championships.
