EAST PEORIA,
Ill. - Kelly Dianis hit a pair of home runs to lead Lewis to a 10-1
win over Northern Kentucky University in the first round of the
Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament on Friday.
Dianis went
3-for-3 and drove in five runs as Lewis improved to 37-11. The third-seeded
Flyers jumped out to a 6-0 lead after two innings and added four
more runs in the third to take a 10-1 advantage.
NKU’s
only run came on a third-inning homer by Kara Lorenz. Rachele Vogelpohl
went 2-for-2 for the sixth-seeded Norse, who finished with four
hits.
NKU starter
Amanda Smith surrendered six runs and four hits in 1 1/3 innings
to drop to 19-10.
NKU is now
35-18 overall and will face Wisconsin-Parkside in an elimination
game at 2 p.m. (CDT). The Norse are the defending GLVC Tournament
champion.
The NKU/Wisconsin-Parkside
winner will advance to another loser’s bracket game at 6 p.m.
