NKU STANDOUTS NAMED ALL-REGION - May 17, 2006
Rothbauer, King named first team; Coode voted to second team

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Three Northern Kentucky University softball players have been named All-Great Lakes Region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

Ricki Rothbauer and Sarah King were named to the All-Region’s first team. The Norse’s Katybeth Coode earned a spot on the second team. All three of those players are from Louisville, Ky.

Rothbauer, a senior second baseman, batted .379 with a team-leading 80 hits. She also collected 10 doubles and scored a team-leading 46 runs this season.

Rothbauer, a graduate of DuPont Manual High School, finished No. 3 in Norse history with 234 career hits.

King, a sophomore catcher and a graduate of Male High School, led NKU with a .385 batting average. She also drove in a team-leading 46 runs and tied a Norse single-season record with six home runs.

King also led NKU with a .592 slugging percentage and 15 doubles.

Coode, a freshman designated player from DuPont Manual High School, batted .321 with 11 doubles and two home runs. NKU posted a 41-21 record this spring and advanced to the NCAA Division II Tournament for the fifth consecutive season.
