ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Shatona Campbell and Jenny Weis each homered in the 12th inning as Northern Kentucky University posted a 7-4 win over Lewis in the first game of a doubleheader on Sunday.

Campbell launched a two-out home run to left field to give NKU a 5-4 lead in the 12th. After Katybeth Coode walked, Weis followed with her first career homer for a 7-4 Norse advantage.

NKU starter Amanda Smith retired Lewis in order in the bottom of the 12th to record her 16th win of the season. Smith also struck out 10 batters.

Lewis jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but a two-run homer by Coode and an RBI single by Heather Cotner in the fifth inning tied the game at 3-all. Lewis scored a run in the bottom of the sixth to gain a 4-3 advantage, and the Flyers were one out away from sealing the win after Julie Wingerter retired the first two NKU batters in the seventh.

That brought Cotner to the plate, and the senior smashed a game-tying homer to left-center field. Cotner finished 3-for-5 with two RBI. Coode also was 3-for-5 with two RBI, and Ricki Rothbauer added two hits.

Lewis rebounded in the nightcap for an 18-6 win over NKU. The Flyers used home runs from Mallory Paine and Kelly Dianis to spark their offensive attack. Paine finished with five RBI, and Robin Martz went 3-for-3 with three runs scored.

Cotner hit her third homer in two days for NKU, which is 31-17 overall, 11-9 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Coode and Weis each had two hits and two RBI in the nightcap.

NKU will play host to Quincy at noon Saturday, and the Norse will close out the regular season Sunday with a noon doubleheader against Missouri-St. Louis.
