MISSION, Kan. – The Northern Kentucky University women’s
soccer team gained two positions in this week’s NCAA Division
II national poll, released by the National Soccer Coaches Association
of America.
NKU, 9-0 overall and 5-0 in Great Lakes Valley Conference
play, is No. 7 in the national poll after picking up a 3-2 come-from-behind
win at Missouri-Rolla and a 3-0 victory at Missouri-St. Louis.
The
Norse received outstanding play from freshman Megan Smith, who
scored NKU’s first goal against Missouri-Rolla to spark
the second-half comeback and managed the game-winning tally against
Missouri-St. Louis.
NKU will face No.16 Quincy at noon Sunday in
a GLVC showdown. Last season, Quincy blanked NKU, 3-0, en route
to a GLVC championship.
NKU begins the weekend at 5 p.m. Friday
when Southern Illinois at Edwardsville visits Wilder for a GLVC
contest.
