ROLLA, Mo. – The Northern Kentucky University women’s soccer team showed Friday night that no lead is safe against the No. 9 team in the nation.

After falling behind 2-0 to Missouri-Rolla at halftime, the Norse scored three unanswered goals to take a 3-2 victory in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.

Beth Babb and Rachel Wile each scored unassisted goals for the Miners in an extremely physical first half to jump out to the early lead.

The Norse countered in the 57th minute when freshman Megan Smith scored her first goal of the season off a pass from Cara Alldred, her conference-leading sixth assist on the year.

Morgan Price brought the Norse even in the 72nd minute with her first collegiate goal off an Amy Martini corner kick. It is a play the Norse have nearly perfected as they have scored three goals off corner kicks in their last three games.

Sophomore Ashley Warndorf proved to be the difference maker just two minutes after Price’s goal. Warndorf took a Brandi Doss pass and touched the twine for the third time this year to complete the comeback.

Goalkeeper Jenna Kramer made a season-high four saves in the victory. Kelsey Kurilla stopped eight shots for UMR in the loss.

NKU (8-0, 4-0 GLVC) travels to Missouri-St. Louis on Sunday to end the weekend road trip.
