WILDER, Ky. – Lauren
Franzen scored a goal and added an assist as the Northern Kentucky
University women’s soccer defeated
Lewis Friday night, 3-0, in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.
Kendall
Day got the scoring started for the Norse in the seventh minute,
taking Franzen’s pass and putting it low off the
left post to open scoring for the Norse. Jayme Light made it a
two-goal game after Katie Guinn lofted a lead pass ahead for Light’s
fourth of the year in the 27th minute.
Franzen added
a tally of her own in the 47th minute, jostling a ball away from
the
Lewis
defense just inside the 18-yard-box to
increase the score to 3-0. Amy Martini’s bid to make it a
4-0 score in the closing minutes of the match came just off the
right post.
Jenna Kramer got the win in net for NKU, making one
save in her first match of the season. Alayna Fontaine played 13
minutes of
relief in net.
Northern Kentucky
(4-0, 1-0 GLVC), ranked No. 16 in the NCAA Division II national
poll,
will host Wisconsin-Parkside
Sunday to conclude
the weekend’s conference play.
