HIGHLAND HEIGHTS,
Ky. – Northern Kentucky University women’s
soccer head coach Bob Sheehan has hired Danielle Newman as assistant
coach.
Newman, who will work primarily with the goalkeepers and
defenders, joins the Norse after five years as the head coach
at St. Ursula Academy in Cincinnati. During her tenure, the Bulldogs
made three
appearances in the Ohio state semifinals, including one state
championship appearance. Newman was also an assistant at St.
Ursula from 1998-2001.
Newman was a goalkeeper at Wheeling Jesuit
University from 1995 to 1997. During that time, she maintained
a 1.36 goals allowed average and earned 17 shutouts. Her 149 saves
in 1997 are a school record and earned her a spot on the All-West
Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference first team.
During her
prep years at St. Ursula, Newman played under Sheehan, helping
the Bulldogs win a state championship in 1993.
The Norse will open
their season Aug. 24 against Tiffin in the John Toebben Classic
presented by National City. |
