HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University’s Kristen Votapek has been named Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week in women’s soccer.

Votapek, a senior forward and a graduate of Amelia High School in Cincinnati, scored two goals and added an assist as NKU swept a pair of GLVC games over the weekend. She began the week by scoring a goal during a 3-0 victory over Southern Illinois at Edwardsville on Friday in a first-place showdown at Wilder, Ky.

Votapek capped the week by scoring the tying goal in the second half and later assisting the winning goal in the second overtime as NKU defeated Quincy, 2-1, on Sunday.

Votapek leads the GLVC in both goals (13) and assists (11). She is the third NKU player to receive the GLVC weekly honor this fall.

NKU will take its nine-game winning streak on the road this weekend with contests at Saint Joseph’s (Friday at 6 p.m.) and Indianapolis (Sunday at noon). The Norse are 13-2 overall, 10-1 in the GLVC.

NKU can wrap up the GLVC regular-season title and No. 1 seed in the upcoming GLVC Tournament with one win this weekend.
