HIGHLAND HEIGHTS,
Ky. - Northern Kentucky University’s Kristen Votapek has been
named Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Week in women’s
soccer.
Votapek, a senior forward
and a graduate of Amelia High School in Cincinnati, scored two goals
and added an assist as NKU swept a pair of GLVC games over the weekend.
She began the week by scoring a goal during a 3-0 victory over Southern
Illinois at Edwardsville on Friday in a first-place showdown at
Wilder, Ky.
Votapek capped the week
by scoring the tying goal in the second half and later assisting
the winning goal in the second overtime as NKU defeated Quincy,
2-1, on Sunday.
Votapek leads the GLVC
in both goals (13) and assists (11). She is the third NKU player
to receive the GLVC weekly honor this fall.
NKU will take its nine-game
winning streak on the road this weekend with contests at Saint Joseph’s
(Friday at 6 p.m.) and Indianapolis (Sunday at noon). The Norse
are 13-2 overall, 10-1 in the GLVC.
NKU can wrap up the
GLVC regular-season title and No. 1 seed in the upcoming GLVC Tournament
with one win this weekend.
