Norse women’s soccer mentor named Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year

NKU’s Bob Sheehan

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University’s Bob Sheehan has been named the Great Lakes Region Coach of the Year by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Sheehan guided NKU to a 19-3 record this fall and led the Norse to the Great Lakes Valley Conference regular-season championship. His team later captured the GLVC Tournament title and earned the No. 1 seed for the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional.

In nine seasons as the women’s soccer coach at NKU, Sheehan has compiled a 159-33-12 record. He has also led the Norse to six GLVC Tournament championships and seven consecutive trips to the NCAA Division II Tournament.

Sheehan is now a finalist for the NSCAA/adidas National Coach of the Year award. Those recipients will be announced at the NSCAA Awards Banquet on Jan. 20, 2006, held in conjunction with the NSCAA Convention in Philadelphia, Pa.
