HIGHLAND HEIGHTS,
Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University women’s basketball
team plays host to NAIA powerhouse Georgetown (Ky.) this Wednesday
at 7 p.m. in Regents Hall.
NKU is 3-1 overall
after posting a 75-67 win at Southern Illinois at Edwardsville on
Saturday. The Norse are 1-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference
and ranked 17th nationally in the latest Division II poll.
NKU also plays
host to Ohio Dominican at 5 p.m. Saturday. The game was originally
scheduled for 2 p.m., but it will now be played as part of a doubleheader
with the NKU men’s contest with UC-Clermont, which begins
at 7 p.m.

BIG
ROAD WIN: Jessie Slack scored 20 points and dished out
five assists to lead NKU past SIUE on Saturday. Slack, a 5-foot-10
junior guard who averages 15.5 points per game, also collected five
steals and grabbed four rebounds. Cassie Brannen and Angela Healy
each added 14 points for the Norse.
NKU built an
18-point lead with 13:44 remaining, but SIUE used a 16-2 run to
cut the Norse advantage to 61-57 with 6:34 left. Healy made a pair
of free throws to extend NKU’s lead to 63-57, and Brannen
followed with an inside basket to give the Norse a 65-57 edge.
A UNIQUE
UNIT: NKU senior center Angela Healy leads NKU in scoring
(18.0 ppg) and rebounding (9.3 rpg). The Highlands High School graduate
is also shooting 90 percent from the free-throw line. Healy enters
this week with 825 career points at NKU.
ALL-AROUND
GAME: Norse senior guard Nicole Chiodi averages 11.8 ppg,
6.8 rpg and a team-leading 3.75 assists per game. Chiodi, a Newport
Central Catholic graduate, also leads the Norse with 10 steals.
BRACKIE
ON THE BOARDS: NKU junior guard Karen Brackman (9.5 ppg)
averages 5.8 rebounds per contest. She leads NKU with 13 offensive
boards and has made 66.7 percent of her 3-point attempts.
POINT
PER MINUTE: NKU junior post player Cassie Brannen netted
14 points in just 14 minutes of action against SIUE. Brannen averages
12.0 ppg and leads NKU with six blocked shots.
ABOUT
GEORGETOWN: The Lady Tigers are 7-1 overall after defeating
Martin Methodist, 78-62, on Saturday. Katie Filiatreau scored 17
points to lead Georgetown in that win.
Jayme Gilbert
leads Georgetown in scoring at 15.5 ppg. The Lady Tigers feature
eight players who average at least 5.3 ppg.

THE
LAST TIME AGAINST GEORGETOWN: On Dec. 6, 2006, Karyn Creager
scored 21 points to lead NKU to a 92-69 win over Georgetown in Regents
Hall. Creager connected on all five of her 3-point attempts and
added three assists.
Creager sparked
a 23-8 run early in the first half by draining a trio of 3-point
shots. Betsey Clark capped the spurt with a basket that gave NKU
a 25-13 lead with 10:19 left before halftime.
Creager gave
NKU its biggest advantage (39-23) of the first half with 5:03 left
with another 3-pointer, and the Norse cruised into the break with
a 47-36 lead. Creager scored 16 points in the first half, 12 on
3-point shots.
Brittany Winner
scored 14 points and dished out five assists for NKU, which shot
63 percent from the field. The Norse used 10-for-15 shooting from
3-point range and finished with a 30-23 rebounding edge.
Cassie Brannen
added 14 points, eight rebounds and four blocked shots for NKU,
while teammate Karmen Graham scored 13 points. Katie Butler reached
double figures with 10 points as the Norse upped their lead in the
all-time series with Georgetown to 11-1.
Nicole Chiodi
scored eight points, grabbed eight rebounds and dished out a game-high
seven assists. Angela Healy scored eight points and had three assists
for NKU, which collected 25 assists with its effective passing.
Megan Gray scored 22 points for Georgetown.
