---Angela Healy leads NKU in both scoring (11.5 ppg) and rebounding (7.2 rpg). The junior center finished with 12 points and nine rebounds during a win at Southern Indiana on Saturday.

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University begins a two-game homestand Thursday at 5:30 p.m. by hosting Great Lakes Valley Conference rival Indianapolis.

The Norse (11-5 overall, 5-4 GLVC) also meet Saint Joseph’s at 5:30 p.m. Saturday as part of the 2007 NKU Homecoming. Both games will be televised live on ICN-6. The broadcasts can also be heard live on the Internet at www.nku.edu/~athletics.

NKU swept Kentucky Wesleyan (61-54) and Southern Indiana (70-56) on the road last week. The Norse are riding a four-game winning streak going into Thursday.

DEFENSIVE SHOWDOWN: Indianapolis and NKU are the top two defensive teams in the GLVC. Indianapolis allows 56.4 points per game to lead the GLVC in scoring defense. NKU is second in the GLVC statistics at 59.9 ppg allowed.

The NKU/Indianapolis game will break up much of the GLVC East Division gridlock. Going into Thursday, four teams are tied for third place in the GLVC East with 5-4 records. Indianapolis is 11-5 overall, 5-4 in the GLVC.

CLUTCH ROAD WINS: NKU began last week with a 61-54 win at Kentucky Wesleyan. Karyn Creager and Karmen Graham each scored 11 points to lead the Norse. Angela Healy added 10 points and nine rebounds for NKU.

Creager, a senior guard from Leipsic, Ohio, added two blocked shots and four rebounds. Graham grabbed five rebounds and was 7-for-8 from the free-throw line. The Norse built a 30-16 halftime lead by holding Kentucky Wesleyan to 19.2 percent shooting from the field.

On Saturday, Brittany Winner scored 17 points and grabbed six rebounds as NKU posted a 70-56 victory over Southern Indiana in the PAC Arena. Winner also collected five steals and was 9-for-11 from the free-throw line. Cassie Brannen added 14 points and five rebounds for the Norse, who won the battle on the glass by a whopping 43-29 margin.

Creager scored 13 points and dished out four assists, while Healy finished with 12 points and nine rebounds. NKU jumped out to a 22-9 lead in the first half and held a 34-19 at the break.

POWER IN THE POST: Junior center Angela Healy continues to lead NKU in scoring (11.5 ppg) and rebounding (7.2 rpg). She is also shooting 52.2 percent from the field.

---Brittany Winner scored 17 points in the victory at Southern Indiana. Winner, who ranks ninth in the GLVC in steals (1.69 spg), collected five thefts against the Eagles.

GLVC LEADERS: NKU is tied with Wisconsin-Parkside for first in the conference in 3-point shooting percentage at .379. The Norse continue to lead the GLVC in rejections, with 84 blocked shots on the season. The Norse rejecters are led by sophomore post player Cassie Brannen, who has swatted 27 attempts this year.

WINNER APPROACHES 800 POINTS: NKU's Brittany Winner enters Thursday with 784 points during her college career. Winner scored 116 points as a freshman at Division I Elon (N.C.) in 29 games. The 5-foot-10 senior from Minster, Ohio, currently has 668 career points at NKU. She averages 10.6 ppg and leads the Norse in steals (27) and assists (50).

ABOUT INDIANAPOLIS: The Greyhounds are coming off a weekend sweep of Quincy (64-36) and GLVC West-leading Southern Illinois at Edwardsville (69-55). Indianapolis led by the inside play of Amanda Norris, who averages a team-best 13.6 points and 7.2 rebounds. Norris leads the GLVC on the offensive glass, averaging almost three second-chances per game this season.

NKU leads the all-time series against Indianapolis, 33-14.

THE LAST TIME AGAINST INDIANAPOLIS: On Feb. 9, 2006, Katie Butler scored 14 points off the bench as NKU posted an 81-62 win over Indianapolis in Regents Hall. Butler scored 10 points on 4-for-5 shooting from the field in the first half as the Norse built a 40-29 lead at the break. She also drained a pair of 3-pointers in the first half.

Cassie Brannen also came off the bench and scored seven of her nine points before the break. In the first half, NKU’s reserves shot 80 percent from the field and scored 23 points. The Norse bench contributed 32 points and 14 rebounds for the game. Indianapolis’ last win in the series was a 61-58 decision on its home floor on Dec. 2, 2004.

THE LAST TIME AGAINST SAINT JOSEPH’S: On Feb. 11, 2006, NKU rolled to a 76-51 rout of Saint Joseph’s in Regents Hall. The Norse placed 11 players in the scoring column, shot 50.8 percent from the field and avenged an early-season loss to the Pumas.

The Norse used a 20-4 run in the first half to turn a 6-4 deficit into a 24-10 lead with 7:17 left before intermission. Karyn Creager sparked the run with a pair of 3-pointers. Brittany Winner, Nicole Chiodi and Cassie Brannen each added four points during the spurt. By halftime, NKU owned a 37-19 lead.

NKU led by as many as 33 points in the second half and cruised to the win. Katie Butler scored all 10 of her points in the second half as the Norse shot 58.6 percent from the field during the final 20 minutes.

Chiodi led NKU with 12 points and six rebounds. Winner added 10 points and three rebounds for the Norse, who finished with a 41-29 advantage on the glass.

NKU leads the series against SJC, 32-12. The Norse have won 13 consecutive games in Regents Hall against the Pumas.
