Angela Healy scored 17 points Tuesday

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - All nine players who saw action Tuesday night for Northern Kentucky University got into the scoring column, and the Norse defense continued to dominate during a 93-41 win over Spalding (Ky.).

Angela Healy scored a career-high 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds as NKU won its seventh consecutive game on “Nancy Winstel Bobblehead Doll Night.” Karmen Graham added 16 points and seven rebounds for NKU, which improved to 11-7 with the non-conference win.

The Norse held Spalding (3-21) to 29.4 percent shooting from the field and outrebounded the Pelicans by a 49-27 margin. NKU has held each opponent to under 60 points during the current seven-game win streak.

“I think our team is playing much better. We’ve come a long way,” said Winstel, who picked up her 506th career victory. “We should be proud of the fact that when we were 0-5 we didn’t pack it in. We didn’t point fingers. We looked at ways to get better. And I think that now, the way we’re playing, is coming from that.”

Connie Myers finished with 15 points and seven rebounds for NKU, and teammate Karyn Creager added 14 points and seven rebounds. The Norse shot 51.6 percent from the field and forced 23 turnovers.

Brittany Winner and Nicole Chiodi each added eight points for NKU, which has won 11 of its past 13 games. And the Norse have come a long way since the 0-5 start.

“A good thing has come from adversity, and I think that they have stuck together,” Winstel said. “They’ve tried to do what we’ve asked them to do. Ten years from now, these kids are going to look back on this season and they’re going to say, ‘We started that season 0-5, and look what happened.’ And who knows how that's going to end, but it’s pretty exciting.”

NKU will play at Southern Illinois-Edwardsville at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. The Norse are 8-3 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and in second place behind Quincy.
