INDIANAPOLIS – The
Northern Kentucky University men’s tennis team was defeated
by No. 4-ranked Drury in the quarterfinal round of the Great
Lakes Valley Conference Tournament on Friday, falling by a 5-0
score.
The Norse could
not find a win the the doubles competition, as Fritz Dlabik and
Reed Sparks fought valiantly to a 9-8 defeat
in
the No. 1 doubles flight against GLVC Player of the Year Stefan
Borg and his partner, Nikola Prpic. Borg and Prpic went on to
defeat Dlabik and Josh Fudala, respectively, by matching 6-1,
6-0 scores
to end the match.
The loss ends
the men’s season with a
7-13 record, though the Norse did equal their postseason performance
from one year
ago when NKU fell to Missouri-St. Louis in the GLVC Tournament
quarterfinals.
