HIGHLAND HEIGHTS,
Ky. - The Northern Kentucky University men's tennis team punched
its ticket to the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament on
Saturday with a 7-2 victory over Saint Joseph's.
The Norse had
to play down a man, as one of their members fell ill and could
not compete, but the rest of the team performed admirably, taking
straight-set victories in every flight.
Michael Volkov
and Jon Raley, playing up in the No. 2 doubles slot, took a 7-3
tiebreak victory over Kris McNeary and James Smith to finish
off the day's closest match.
Northern Kentucky
(7-12, 4-6 GLVC) will learn its opponent for Friday's
quarterfinal match in the GLVC Tournament later this week.
